Abstract

Substance Abuse treatment is an adolescent service that a human service professional may provide, but there are some issues while providing treatment to such a young age. Many types of treatment which an adolescent may receive can range from In-patient treatment to Outpatient treatment, (Martin, Michelle E., 2007). Parent/Adolescent involvement is very important because studies have shown that this may help reduce the adolescent use of substances. The Human Service professionals may help with this process and ensure that the path of recovery in adolescents may be effective through program development and supportive services on all levels of treatment, (Martin, Michelle E., 2007). Adolescent services for Substance Abuse is becoming more popular today than it ever has because the youth today are starting out at a younger age concerning to substance use.

Encounters in Adolescent Services

Many types of treatment available to adolescents that suffer from substance abuse will be determined by their initial assessment. Then treatment is determined if Inpatient to Outpatient treatment would benefit the adolescent, (Martin, Michelle E., 2007). While the adolescent is in treatment, it is very important that the parent is involved in treatment as well. Research shows that parent involvement may reduce the adolescent to use again.

The issues with adolescent Substance Abuse is sometimes because the parents because they too are involved in using illicit drugs at home. Human Service professional should be notified if there is substance abuse use in the home that way the professional can treat the...
