Patton- Fuller Community Hospital Business Systems
Patton-Fuller Community Hospital is a full functioning healthcare facility that has been serving the community since 1975. In order to achieve this longevity that the organization has achieved over the years, certain steps must be taken. For example, following the standard Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) guidelines or establishing a protocol for all departments in the facility. Apart from HIPPA and protocols, there are various business systems that need to be up to date. Healthcare is still a business and there are a number of areas that need to function successfully in order for Patton-Fuller to continue to service the community.
Current Business Systems
Patton-Fuller is divided into two sections; the clinical area, which includes the Emergency Room (ER), Operating Rooms (OR), Pharmacy, Intensive Care Units (ICU) and Radiology. The second section is the administrative areas such as Admitting, Information Technology (IT), Finance, Human Resources (HR) and management. Each department operates on a 1000BaseT network, which is connected with Ethernet CAT 6 cables. That style of cables facilitates about 1gigabite of data transfer. All departments are on this network except Radiology, which uses a different standard called 1000BaseF. 1000BaseF is similar to 1000BaseT, but uses a different style of optical fiber cables. Every department is backed up with a complete power backup system with a motor generator set. All of individual departments have local UPS and all patient data is encrypted for storage using AES.
