Aims
This activity is a platform to sharpen and demonstrate your knowledge and analytical skills in international business. It focuses on one of the major challenges facing international businesses – national culture difference. By analyzing a real-world case, this assessment also provides you with opportunities to link the international business theories with the practice.
Format
This assessment task should be presented as an essay and should include the following sections:

Background
International business is different from domestic business in a number of ways. One of them is to recognize the cultural differences between countries where international business operates. Being unaware of cultural differences may not only increase the cost of doing business in the global market, but may also lead to business failure. In this assessment, you are to select a real-world international business which has experienced business difficulties and/or failure in its internationalisation process due to the lack of understanding of the cultural differences in the host country and/or target market, and then analyse the case according to the following guidelines.
Guidelines
1. Which case is suitable for this task?
The business you select must be a real-world international business.
The selected business can be either large or small in terms of business size as long as it is involved in international business.
The difficulties and/or failure experienced by the selected business must be caused by the lack of understanding of the culture of the host country and/or the target foreign market.
The difficulties and/or failure experienced by the selected business must be from 1990 and onwards.
