Reaction Journal: A Note To Parents

The article A Note To Parents written by Mexican author Ruben Navarrette, Jr. who is got a few worries about raising his kids. The article talks about how some parents treat give their kids anything they want and ask for. It is frightening how these parents are not teaching the value of a dollar. That the parents today are going to seminars because their running out of ideas and ways to deal with kids. Parents are not being parents but trying to be the kids best friend.

This article is one the best one I have read on this subject. It tells some truths and hits close to home for me. I have a seen this type of parenting with my own nieces, nephews, and cousins. I totally agree with what the author is saying about parents can’t say no or want to give their kids everything. Today these kids have no since of value or respect for things they achievement. Because parents want to say yes to every need for kids these kids grow up not appreciating what they have. In my opinion parents need to start giving these kids chores, whooping’s, and let them make their own money by getting jobs. That way they learn how to respect what they earn and can bestow it on to their kids.

In conclusion I think parents need to start being parents and stand up face reality. Take the time to teach the kids instead of relying on someone else like the government to step in and help. Step up and be the actual grown up they are trying to be.
