Proposal:

I propose to show the benefits of the game design career path and what the path entails.

My background in this subject is varied I have helped to develop many games since I first started playing computer games back in the early 80’s. I have work on games ranging from real time and turn based strategy games to First person shooters and Massively Multiplayer online Role playing games. I was a lead tester in a flight simulator based in World War one in the early 90’s that sparked my interest in this area of work. Since then I have pursued this in a hobby like fashion working on games such as Jump Gate, asherons call the original Everquest and World of Warcraft as well as various titles for Red Storm entertainment.

I will focus mostly on the development stage of this subject in my report and what is included in game design. I will go from conceptual drawing to Alpha testing and beta testing. This will better explain that it’s not just putting some code together and drawing some pictures and what skills are needed to succeed in this career. As well as the benefits of working in this field.

Some of the benefits in this Path are travel, a competitive salary based on the project funding and your experience, advanced access to new products, and a chance to rise very quickly to the top of your field.

I hope to learn exactly how the game design process works and how I can further my career as a designer. This will give me an idea of how to promote and sell my concepts and get them out there. The most important thing I hope to learn is how to put a development team together without losing creative control over the project.
