Gap Analysis: Global Communications

This analysis addresses the issues that Global Communications faces while trying to improve the company’s profits by implementing a globalization plan. The gap analysis reviews the issues, dilemmas, communication and public relations.

Situation Analysis

Issue and Opportunity Identification

Numerous issues need to be focused on by Global Communications. The issues that are present will either make Global Communications rebound in the telecommunications industry or not recover. All stakeholders need to communicate and concentrate on Global Communications as a focal point and not their personal agendas.

The senior management team has identified cost-cutting measures to improve profitability. The board has approved a plan to increase their globalization and outsource their call centers. “Outsourcing can free up assets and reduce costs in the immediate financial period.

Organizations outsourcing parts of their in-house operations report significant savings

on operational and capital costs.” (Rimmer, 1991; Hendry, 1995; Uttley, 1993).

Global Communications has just finished their negotiations with the Technologies Worker Union and the new contract has reduced education and health benefits by 20 percent. The Technologies Worker Union was not aware of the outsourcing plan during contract negotiations and has now started a negative public relations campaign in response to the changes.

The beginning implementation stages of the cost cutting measures have created miss communications, oversights and development of a dysfunctional senior management team. This issue has developed because some of the main communication memos and decisions did not include all stakeholders. Those involved in some of the communications their concerns, risks and ideas were ignored.
