The intention of this memo is to acknowledge the merger of EnvironTech with Interclean. As a manager, it is imperative that the changes the merger will bring be ebmbraced. “Managing change is an ongoing process whose objective is to enhance the ability of an organization to anticipate and respond to developments in its external and internal environments and to enable employees at all levels to cope with the changes” (Wayne F. Cascio, 2005, p. 6). This memo will serve three main purposes. This memo will outline and give explanation on how the behavior of a manager can effect the efficiency and production of one’s staff. Secondly, the memo will focus on actions of the management team that are not aligned with current employment laws. Lastly, the memo will illustrate ideals in working with a diverse working group.

As was announced on February 2, 2005, Inc. has officially acquired EnviroTech. It is imperative to use all resources available to make this merger as successful as possible. “Managers are responsible for optimizing all of the resources available to them—material, capital, and human” (Wayne F. Cascio, 2005, p. 6). Behavior of all managers, especially first-level manages, is crucial to the achievement of employees. Due to close interactions with workers, the behavior of a first-level manager can influence the productivity of one’s staff. Managers must remember to communicate and convey fairness equally in order to retain employees. First-level managers must have retention as a top priority in handling all day-to-day matters with staff. “Retention comprises the activities of (1) rewarding employees for performing their jobs effectively; (2) ensuring harmonious working relations between employees and managers; and (3) maintaining a safe, healthy work environment” (Wayne F.
