INTRODUCTION
Scharffen Berger Chocolate Maker (SBCM) is a high-end chocolate maker based out
of Berkeley, California which was founded in 1996 by two friends, Robert Ste inberg
and John Scharffenberger. SBCM is a brand of chocolate that is manufactured by
Artisan Confection Industry. It is in the year 2005 that the company changes its
management team and, currently, it is operating under chocolate giants Hershey.
SBCM is a pioneer in this industry and has maintained its reputation for many years.
The product was founded by Steinberg and Scharffenberge r, hence, the name. They
manufactured and launched this product in the market using cacao beans imported
from different parts of the world. Among the many companies engaged in the
production of chocolate, SBCM is the only one that was able to manufacture
chocolate by turning beans into bars in the United States. In other words, the
company (unlike others in the industry) uses raw materials to manufacture
chocolates rather than purchasing from other chocolate manufacturing companies.
