Investopedia.com defines Marketing as The activities of a company associated with buying and selling a product or service. It includes advertising, selling and delivering products to people. People who work in marketing departments of companies try to get the attention of target audiences by using slogans, packaging design, celebrity endorsements and general media exposure. The four 'Ps' of marketing are product, place, price and promotion. Dictionary.com defines marketing as the act of buying or selling in a market and the total of activities involved in the transfer of goods from the producer or seller to the consumer or buyer, including advertising, shipping, storing, and selling. Marketing for me means advertising and selling quality goods at an affordable price that will keep buyers buying and potential buyers interested. Marketing started from the selling of a product which came from the engagement of bartering or trading. This came from people who needed items, and would in turn have an item someone else needed so a trade was made. Now instead of a trade or barter happening, many companies and people buy products from companies who have a huge supply of product.

In order for a business to become successful the business must have a marketing strategy. For instance, a business can have the best products to sell, however if they don’t advertise that product or promote that product, then then selling that product can be quite difficult. If no one knows that this product exists, then no one can purchase it. Marketing makes this happen. Marketing covers public relations, advertising, sells, and promotions, without this umbrella the business would be unsuccessful. Beyonce Knowles, Disney, and McDonalds are some business world examples with great marketing strategies.
