Abstract
The following is the security assessment of the Aircraft Solutions (AS) a recognized leader in the design and fabrication of components products and services for companies in the electronics, commercial, defense and aerospace. Based on the information that was provided, there are two potential security weaknesses.
1. There is a potential hardware security risk identified in the lack of firewalls between the Commercial Development (CD) Group and the main server.
2. The Security Policy is not robust in the application of the evaluation of firewall to be in compliance with regulations.
3. Backups are performed to an attached storage device and maintained at the server location.
The security weaknesses pose significant risk to the organization’s financial and intangible assets. The likelihood of both security breaches is highly probable considering the economic down turn of the economy, information is a profitable resource. Competitors would have little obstacles to gain the information need to obtain a competitive advantage. Should any environmental breach occur at the server location, the backup data would also be lost and not recoverable.
