Roles and Function Paper

In today’s medical profession a manager must have the ability and the knowledge that is
needed to manage in a medical facility. In the health care field the managers have a very
important function and role. A manager is defined by anyone who works within an organization
who is responsible and will support the work of many others below him or her (Lombardi &
Schermerhorn, 2007). Managers wear many hats but their main role and function will not
change. In the health care field it is always expanding with new treatments and new illness
develop ever year. Managers work towards to improving their skills on a daily, monthly basis.
Managers improve their future planning with productivity and efficiency. Managers are also
problem solvers, they make bias decisions and take action as needed when it comes to staff
performance. All managers; regardless of title, level, type, and organizational setting, are
responsible for the following four function (Hackman & Oldham, 1980); Organizing, Planning,
Controlling, and Leading. Once the managers has them in place then the management process
can take place.
Although specific day-to-day responsibilities vary greatly, managers within health care
organization typically (Schlesinger & Klein, pp. 370-82). They train, recruit and develop teams.
The old teams are then informed what is expected of them. Managers other responsibilities
include planning meetings, make and complete goals, putting schedules together and
organization. Managers also have to make sure that their staff has been trained for their position
and that they have the necessary tools to be productive.
The most significant aspect related to health care management is that I want to be the best
manager that I can be. I have been a leader in the retail field now I want to be manager in the
health care. I...
