Effects of Long-Term Video Game Usage 1
For my research paper, I plan to examine the long-term negative effects of video games on young children. I have a vast interest in this subject which stems from my 13 years of extensive training, experience, and observations as former preschool teacher and nanny. My interest in this topic started during my short time studying Early Childhood Education and child psychology in the late 1980’s. I look forward to explaining newly released long-term studies and analyzes of the theory of increased aggressive behavior in young adults due to ongoing exposure to violent video games. I hope to use facts and research conducted by university’s and psychology groups, editorials, observations of children playing games, observations of child psychologists, teachers, and preschool teachers, and by examining current events allegedly linked to video games.
With my research paper, I plan to provide a solid argument and present effective research to support my position on the subject of the negative effects of video games on young children. I plan to argue this theory by presenting and analyzing a few common issues associated with my hypothesis. For example, what are some of the demographic predictors of video game use among young children? What behaviors are generally associated with long-term video game use by young children? How do violent video games affect the psyche of young children? Are the theories of the link between playing violent video games and the isolation and aggression of the Columbine shooters and Virginia Tech shooter real?
