Conquering poverty has been the fundamental development goal of each administration in the country. However, despite of series of promises and poverty reduction programs, the problem in poverty remains unsolved.

Just recently, Aquino administration implemented a program. This is the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps)This program by the Department of Social Welfare and Development that aims to reduce poverty by providing qualified families conditional cash grants.

The 4Ps under the 2011 National Budget has four components: Supplemental Feeding Program; Food for Work Program for internally displaced persons; Rice Subsidy Program; and Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Program. The CCT program gets the bulk of the 4Ps budget. The said program is seen as a social protection instrument and a tool to empower people to rise above poverty by increasing household income and improving human capital, among others.

Though this program is already occurring in the Philippines, there are still different point of views arises from it. Some are ni the side of the government that agrees that this program can help to eradicate the poverty and provide a better life for Filipino families whose income can’t meet all their basic needs and education as well. But the others remain against this program.

As a Filipino citizen, I’m grateful that the government is taking it’s part in lowering the level of poverty here in our country. They are being responsible for the promises they’ve told to the mass. Also, it is a good news that the Filipino poor families can achieve better health and education through the money the government are giving to them.

However, I’m against to the fact that they are giving out cash. Yes, money is essential thus it can do a great help for the beneficiaries.
