There are many selection tools that can be used to determine if an applicant is the right and best fit for an open position. Human Resource departments have to be on their job since the unemployment rate is so high that they used the correct methods that will yield dividends for their company.

With selection tools in mind there are three that I would use during the hiring process for a supermarket position. When you think about the supermarket, one has to believe that most of the positions will start off at entry-level status. Since I have been limited to three selection tools I will use Interview Process, Criminal Background Check and Employee History to determine if applicants are fit to be hired. No selection tool is better than another; they all are effective and useful when it comes to hiring at different positions for different types of businesses. These tools will be used in conjunction with each other to help product the positive results that an employer is looking for.

In most supermarket positions there will be instances which will involve face to face communication with customers. Some advantages the interview process has are allowing an employer to feel out the applicant and see how they react in a face to face environment. You can see if they maintain eye contact when they speak. Eye contact is a way of showing respect and lets a person know that you are listening and acknowledging them. This process also allows an employer to see how they handle themselves in a professional environment and how they talk. Applicants with good speech and grammar will be able to talk to customers with respect and dignity. To communicate with a customer you have to be able to speak with proper grammar and language.
