There are many different aspects to a company being successful. One of the most important aspects is the hiring of the staff that is going to run the company as well as do the work to make it successful. There are many ethical and legal decisions that go into the hiring process. Legally companies need to be an equal opportunity employer which means that they need to look at candidates no matter sex, race, or religion. Applications need to be accepted from any individual that may want to try to get the job. During the hiring process the information that the applicant gives to the company is confidential and is not allowed to be shared. When references are given, past jobs are allowed to be contacted but under law they are not allowed to give a negative account of the applicant. All of the application process as well as the interview process need to be documented for future reference and to protect the company if any issues arise.

Companies should have a hiring process in place that is ethical and easy to follow. In my experience I had set up a hiring process that worked well. It started by placing ads in the local paper to find applicants. We also put a sign at the business to let people know we were hiring. Applicants filled out the paperwork and then we went through to see the experience each candidate had. We would then place the candidates in a list where we had them rated in order of most qualified to least. We would then schedule a group interview where we would ask all of the applicants a question in a group setting and see the responses. We would then narrow our choices down to the final three and have those candidates back for one on one interview.
