Values are beliefs and attitudes that determine how a person behaves. Those beliefs and attitudes help a person distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. Ethics are how a person should behave. Strong ethics gives a person the desire to do the right thing (Josephson Institute, 2009). Values and ethical beliefs affect a person’s attitude and how they respond to others. The Williams Institute Ethics Awareness Inventory assessment determined my ethical profile. The assessment enabled me to gain insight into my ethical philosophy and values, how my values align with the values of Kudler Fine Foods, and how my values would affect my performance if I were a manager at Kudler.

The Ethics Awareness Inventory assessment is “designed to assist you in developing a deeper awareness and understanding of the CORE principles or values underlying your belief system and how they are reflected in your personal ethical perspective and style” (The Williams Institute, 2009). The assessment has four categories of ethical philosophy and theory: character, obligation, results, and equity. After taking the assessment, my characteristics were analyzed and placed in the category that best represented my principles and values. The assessment states that my ethical profile is most closely aligned with OBLIGATION and least closely aligned with RESULTS. This means that the basis of my ethical perspective is that of duty or obligation of an individual to do what is right. The basis of my ethical style is that of the belief that all individuals have value and have the right to individual respect and equal opportunities. “Moral decisions must reflect the free choice of individuals if we ever expect to hold them personally responsible. You are guided by a desire to be in accord with established standards of right and wrong” (The Williams Institute, 2009). Kudler Fine Foods donate products still in good condition to local charities.
