This essay was written as a requirement to attend ASEAN Scholarship Student Forum 2012. I begin this essay with an introduction to myself. Arif Munandar, thus the name given to my parents on 3 november , 20 years ago. I come from Batam, a flourishing city in the province of Riau Islands. I currently live in Surabaya, a metropolitan city where I was studying at college.

This year is my fourth year as a student at the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS). The course of study in which I participated during seven semester is Bachelor (S1) in Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Industrial Technology (FTI). The reason for choosing this subjec was I think the chemical engineering graduates have a huge opportunity to get a job-both private and government Additionally, I dropped the option in the majors because of my love for the world of energy, especially oil and gas, and my father, who has the ability to more in the field of petroleum processing.

Talk about college and my dad, is a series of stories that are very impressive. Received lectures on ITS is a blessing that so I'm grateful, just in time for high school graduation, my father coma in hospital from colon cancer, even my dad convicted can not be saved. 30 days my father was admitted to the ICU was unconscious, this is really testing the patience of our family, as well as proof of the greatness of God. it is also a time to make my affairs abandoned college enrollment, I was desperate because I was not accepted at many universities because they do not pass the selection. But thankfully, I finally escaped through the national selection into ITS, and when it did, my father's health gradually recovered.

In the first semester of college (2009) I began to start my college days in ITS, it is easy for me to adapt in Surabaya, since high school when I was living alone in Bandung - West Java without my parents, this experience also makes me feel very self- ....
