Effects of Dehydration 1.

Water is a chemical substance that is made up of hydrogen and oxygen. This chemical substance is not only good for the earth, but all forms of life. When the word water is mentioned most people think of the liquid state but it also has two other different states such as solid and gaseous. To give some quick facts 71% of the Earth's surface is covered with water, and it is found in large bodies of water such as oceans, lakes etc.. Water plays a very vital to the world's economy, because of the basic necessities of it.

The human body is made up of 55-78% of water, and to function properly the body should consume at least one to seven liters of water a day to keep from becoming dehydrated. Some of the reasons besides hydration that water is healthy for the body is: it serves as a lubricant for the body, it regulates metabolism, it helps prevent constipation by moving food through the body and intestinal tract, it helps eliminate waste out of the body, it regulates the body temperature, it forms fluids around to joints, and most importantly it forms the base for saliva. As said before water makes up about 2/3 of the body weight of humans, and without water humans cannot survive. Because the brain is made up of 92% of water the lungs are 90%, and 82% is in the blood. Along with the maintenance of our bodies water also helps prevent diseases by drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day you could prevent the risk of bladder cancer by 50%, colon cancer by 45%, and even breast cancer.

Another reason water so important to our body I because it helps it function. Water plays the number one role in our body with digestion. The process begins when food enters the mouth and is help broken down with saliva which contains water.
