“Common sense ain’t common,” according to Will Rogers (Rogers, 2008). In the business world of today, it makes sense to make money. The question is what does we, as a company needs to do to make money. A company can do this by exchanging goods and services. The more people that know that we have a good or service to sell, the more profit an organization can make. How then are we able to let people know of goods and services? Marketing. There are many different types of marketing, but this paper will only address similar, but very different kinds, Business to Customer (B2C) and Business-to-Business (B2B).

Business to Customer

The first type of marketing we will address will be the B2C (Business to Customer) type of marketing. This will be the type of marketing that organizations use to sell their goods to the public…a customer. When dealing with the public, marketers need to address the public needs and wants. This is very difficult in today’s world of high pace action. For this reason “All marketing tactics are temporary” (Graham, 2007). It is for this reason that television, radio and even billboard advertisements change, to keep the consumers attention to their product. But in the world of today, there is another marketing tool that is used to expose to customer’s wants and needs…the Internet. What kind of marketing steps can be taken to keep the everyday web surfer’s attention? A tactic that they can employ would be to make the page sticky. “The stickiness of a Web site is its ability to keep visitors at the site and attract repeat visitors. People spend more time at a sticky Web site and are thus exposed to more advertising” (Schneider, 2004, p.110). Unfortunately, this is not the only trick that is used to keep a customer on a web site; the usability of the site also must be addressed. To make a site user-friendly is just as important as making the site available. The Internet has brought the world of commerce to the home of every...
