Office Word 2007 helps us create professional-looking content. It also provides an XML-based file format which makes file sharing easier. By initiating Office SharePoint Server 2007 review and approval workflow process, documents go through a comprehensive approval process before distribution.

Office Excel 2007 is used to create spreadsheets from information retrieved from the company’s database. The spreadsheets are the incorporated into the Word 2007 documents.

Microsoft Office Project 2007 is used by the Project Managers to control project work, schedules, and finances. The extensive reports can also be incorporated into Word 2007.

Office Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager is used by all employees. Outlook tracks all customer information, communication history and document history. The service department and salespeople also use Outlook to track appointments and sales leads.

The company contracts with a software administrator that makes software suggestions. These products were suggested based on the fact that it is from Microsoft and that each application can communicate with one another. Microsoft provides customer support and updates are available. Office 2007 provides a lot of tools at a relatively low cost.

Advantages / Disadvantages

The major advantage of using Office 2007 from my perspective is Outlook. There is a centralized database of all contacts: employees, customers, and vendors. Outlook keeps track of the communication history which was beneficial when a customer initiated a dispute. They claimed that they were not notified of a schedule change and they wanted Spectrum to pay for losses. Outlook was able to provide the Word 2007 document...
