Ethical Behavior

It is true a businesses can work without ethical standards however when conducting business ethically it makes the process smoother. I believe ethical behavior can exist in business. When conducting business if a company is not ethical the business practices could waiver. It may be necessary to research and find the best morality for the business and determine how business will be conducted in the world. The business has to complete certain steps in order to gain an ethical business process.

Ethical behavior as it relates to business comes when it demonstrates moral principles. Principles can include honesty, diversity, equality and fairness. When a business acts and has values consistent with what society thinks is normal it has an ability to be more successful. Many businesses establish a code of ethics. Managers can set an example by upholding the code and making sure each employee understands the ethical standards set out by the company. Buhler, 1991, shows managers have three requirements to assist with the implementation of a code of ethics:

1. Reinforcing the ethical behavior that is expected from employees;

2. Lending more credibility to the code;

3. Adopting the same guidelines across the board.

As with any code that has to be followed steps to uphold the code is also necessary. A strict code of ethics has to be put in place. To incorporate all aspects involved it should be said:

1. Employees morale should improve

2. The code should increase employee relationships.

3. Improve the image of the company.

4. Increase the competitive edge.

5. Update the bottom line

6. Create a great place to work.

Once the code is communicated with all staff and enforced, it may become necessary to enforce the code. Sanctions is set in place to uphold the code of ethics and if violated...
