Throughout life everyone will face a point to where their inner morals are challenged. As human with the ability to make our own decisions and face moral challenges in a personal or professional dilemma. When working in the criminal justice system and in law enforcement there will be several times that you will have the chance to say how you were presented with a moral dilemma and how you handled it, could have handled it different and will witness the outcomes of your decisions.

I have been working in corrections and law enforcement for a few years and have encountered several times in which my professional morals have been tested. One of the times I remember the most is when I was working at a police department the previous year. While working at this police department I learned that there were times that other officers were not as professional as they should have been. The main time that I remember is when dealing with our K-9 officer. On several occasions his name was incorporated in places and doing things that he shouldn’t have. For a while no one could ever get anything on him, but it was known through the police department that he could not be trusted. On several occasions while working on the same shift as him I have had to call for back up and he was nowhere to be found or had an excuse to why he couldn’t come.

I did not agree with his actions and his excuses but I never let anyone know about it and kept working like it never happened. A while after these instances had occurred I had people tell me that he didn’t like me, and he wanted to whoop my butt. Even though I had heard that and even seen proof in text messages to other people that he felt that way I never let that effect my work. I still backed him up on traffic stops or calls and acted like I never knew anything. I even stayed over and worked his shift when he had a wreck on the way to work. He said that he swerved to...
