COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is to provide candidates with knowledge of the Companies Ordinance, 1984

and to develop amongst them an understanding of its application to corporate and other

business environment. The course aims to familiarize the students with all the basic statues they shall be dealing with in actual business environment. This course serves as an introduction to the more complex areas of corporate laws that will be studied in the next course Corporate Laws 1 and Corporate Laws 2. The students will be given a thorough understanding of certain concepts which they are expected to master. Those will act as takeaways from this course and include all the major statues that govern mercantile law. Students will also be given an introduction to Companies Ordinance 1984, which they will do in more detail in the next courses.

The students are expected to do their reading before coming to the class and the teaching methodology will be mostly based on case laws and real life examples. Class participation will only be marked for sensible, articulate discussion. Two out of four quizzes will be inform of home assignments and students will be expected to use their legal knowledge to tackle the cases.
