Weekly Reflection

Throughout the course team A has been addressing each other’s questions through team discussion to better understand weekly objectives. This week all teammates learned several things that have assisted in preparing for the next workshop. The following are the individual ideas, questions, or comments made by each teammate to address what we learned throughout the week to prepare for in class discussions.

During week four we learned about corporate strategy, which is the range and direction of a corporation and how it various the business operation and how the company works jointly to realize the company’s goals (BusinessDictionary, 2012). To develop a good corporate strategy it requires acquiring a strong foundation, an evaluation of alternatives, and thorough formulation. With a corporate strategy a company can be worth more than just a sum of its parts developing a corporate vision and objectives to increase performance. Organizations can obtain a profitable growth by implementing a sustainable corporate strategy that will determine the full potential of the company’s current goals. Corporate strategy provides the essential tools for supervisors to advance and maintain functional performance.

We learned that while having a corporate strategy is important, even more important is the proper execution of that strategy (Wheelen & Hunger, 2010). Strategy implementation is the sum total of all activities and choices required for the execution of a strategic plan (2010). To properly implement a plan, the proper people to carry the plan out must be position (2010). Initially it would help to have Integration Managers in place who have the ability to assess a company’s strengths and weaknesses, and who are able to mesh things together for the desired results of the company (2010).
