Organizational Changes

The ISD Corporation has purchased TASC, a smaller firm specializing in obtaining government contracts and providing an accounting system for billing and collections. The purchase will relieve some of the competition as both companies are typically vying for the same non-government contracts, but there are business advantages, too, because the smaller firm has a more established customer base as well as experience working with government agencies. After much research and consideration, the prime decision makers for both companies have determined it is a wise choice with advantages for both organizations. Change management is a concept our leaders are accustomed to in this new age of business practice, where change is the only thing you can count on. In order for a change to proceed successfully, leaders also must be willing to change. I will be guiding the principals during this crucial period in the organization’s life so the outcome is positive. Managing the change is the key to an organizational victory; therefore, Kotter’s 8 step model for change management is the best practice to facilitate a winning outcome (Kinicki & Kreitner, 2009). Prior to a companywide announcement, meetings will take place to determine the new structure and hierarchy. Many of the adaptations and restructuring events will take place simultaneously while maintaining uninterrupted daily operations; consequently, to separate changes from the day-to-day tasks, a change management team (CMT) will be created to coordinate activities. This team will consist of top performers from each firm, 5 from ISD and 4 from TASC from different management levels, and ultimately hold accountability for the implementation of the agenda. The key players in executing this change will be the upper management team and the CMT.
