Personal Values Paper

Introduction

According to Webster’s New World Dictionary, the word “character” is described as a person with a distinctive trait, reputation or moral strength (Webster’s New World Dictionary 2003). After taking the Ethics Awareness Inventory Assessment, I learned that I place a high value on peoples’ characters when it comes to making ethical decisions (Williams Institute 2006). After taking the assessment and reviewing my results, I find that I am different from Kathy Kudler at Kudler Fine Foods, and that if I were in her position, I would make decisions differently based on my own ethical viewpoints.

Ethics Awareness Inventory Assessment

After taking the assessment and reviewing my results, I went through and reviewed the traits that I value when it comes to ethics. The results show that wisdom, honor justice and integrity are the traits I value most when it comes to individuals. The results show that these traits make morally good people. I would have to agree with the results of this assessment, because I believe, an individual’s character and morals are far more important than having high ethics because the company you work for values ethical standards. I believe in what people already are and not what they should or shouldn’t do. I also believe that if a person possesses integrity, justice, honor and wisdom, they are more likely to have high ethical standards in the workplace. If one looks closely at these traits, they are traits in which someone is born and raised with. I believe that integrity and honor cannot be taught at a late age by a leader, and it is something that is possessed early in life (2006).

I also learned that my assessment results may cause some frustration for myself. I learned that not all people have similar values and that the development of an individual is a slow process. Since I believe that integrity, honor, justice and wisdom are important values for...
