Why Not legalize Marijuana?

Americans ask "Why should marijuana be legalized?" but Americans should ask "Why is marijuana illegal?". There is so much the country could benefit from marijuana, if it was to be legalized.   Marijuana's value to the medical world outweighs its potential abuse . An entire industry could be created out of hemp based products, which comes from Marijuana. Humans use nearly every part of the marijuana plant. The stalks help produce fiber, the seeds provide food and oil, the flowers, leaves and resin appear in medical and intoxicating preparations (Earleywine, 2002). Not to mention it could be taxed and regulated from the gain, the U.S. could save and make money from this plant . So why not ? legalize Marijuana, the benefits of it can be more good than bad.

Currently there are 17 states in the U.S. using marijuana as a medicine to help many people with different illness, with California being one of the most popular known state. Marijuana as a medicine has existed for thousands of years in many countries worldwide . This plant appears in many pharmacopoeia and remedy medicine as a treatment for many things. Medical marijuana is known to be less dangerous than alcohol, cigarettes, and even most over-the counter drugs. Because of its low toxicity it is a well known fact that marijuana has never directly caused a person to die. When in its natural form marijuana has been known to be one of the safest therapeutically active substances known to man. Marijuana has never to been noted to kill anyone, cause a overdose, give any one cancer or any other harmful thing that people have been brought to the table of arguments. A person that drinks and drinks an extreme amount of alcohol will experience an inability to stand, walk with out help and can not drive. But also in extreme cases...
