Conclusion

Things should have been handled differently at Netflix. The emphasis should have been on doing things well and valuing the customers’ needs and wants, and more so ever the effect and importance of the customers’ insights, which could have better aided with setting and accomplishing their future goals for the company. The Netflix team would have also been encouraged to work in teams and set challenging but realistic goals, establish better plans to meet those goals and pursuer them with enthusiasm, instead of Reed Hastings, founder and chief executive officer of Netflix Inc., taking this vast idea and presenting it very quickly without looking at the future opportunities, strengths, weaknesses and or threats. Netflix Inc., had everything that customers wanted, they had; wide selection of movies, streaming through gaming consoles, it was easily accessible, they had their main competitor, Blockbuster out of there way, and most important they had two services for one low price. That is where the problem started, Hastings separated the two services, and that caused chaos with their subscribers. Over the next quarter Netflix lost 805,000 subscribers, and the company’s dropped by more the 50% from $300 per share. Along with one problem increased so did another, Netflix changing their mail-in service name to Qwikster, but the streaming name would still be known as Netflix, caused difficulty for about 12 million customers. Reed Hastings did not look at the future threats and losses of the company. The employees and CEO’s of Netflix should have been encouraged to interact with others and to work as a team. Netflix should not have changed their service name to Qwikster, because you as a competitive and popular company, you are known for that name that everyone knows you as. For example; when coke had introduced their new flavor to customers, no one liked that flavor because it was sweeter and most importantly it was not coke anymore. Just like that, Netflix...
