Fantasy Literature and Fantastic Language 2

There are many different cultural that have different kinds of poems and fantasies that consists of different elements that makes them very enjoyable and interesting. The poem that I chose is a poem written by an African poet, titled “Toris Okotie.” This poem is about an African child who is crying out for its mother and the child seems to be in pain and need help. The characters in this poem is the child and his mama, and also the father. The setting of the poem seems to be somewhere near water and a bridge. The poem is an internal narrator point of view and the conflict of this poem is the Protagonist Against Nature, because the child is left alone and is waiting for the return of his mama.

The plot of the poem is when the child cries for a week to being left alone in the cold and rain. The theme of this poem is that , for the reason for this child being left alone is because his mother got sick and died. The style of the poem is exposition. The writer is using a passionate, warm, and serious tone. The images of diverse culture in this poem is that this is a male African child between the age of 1-2 months old. The poetic techniques that this poet uses in this poem are consonance and Iamb techniques.

Images of diverse culture affect familial and cultural values by the different figurative and literal images. This poem uses visual images and uses the metaphor method as a comparison.
