Explain the Purpose and Significance of the the Bill of Rights Did These Ten Amendments Significantly Weakened the Federal Authority or Actually Enhance It

The bill of right was a series of ten amendments added to the constitution in order to protect the rights of the American people. The rights it protected included the freedom of speech, religion, and press; it also gave the American people the right to bear arms in order to defend them in case the government became tyrannical. Another right protected was people’s right to search and seizure. The bill of rights significance is it led to the constitution being ratified and guaranteed the rights of the people would not be stepped upon. The bill of rights weakened federal authority because it gave American citizens ways to defend themselves against the central government.

Due to the first amendment the American people had the freedom of speech this let them speak freely without having to worry about the federal government punishing them for expressing their opinions. Another feature in the first amendment was the freedom of press with this the press was able to print the news in the way they saw fit and the government could not forcibly make the news look favorably upon them. Religion was another right protected by the first amendment and it meant American citizens were free to choose their religion and could not be forcibly made to choose another by anyone. The second amendment gave the people the right to bear arms this was added in order for the American people to defend themselves in case the government had become a tyranny and the people needed to overthrow the government.

Along with the first and second amendment another amendment that weakened the government was the fourth amendment or in other words search and seizures. This amendment was created to protect the people from being searched by the police without a reason. The amendment did this by making police after meat certain requirements before they could search anyone.
