Healthy Eating, Nutrition, and Exercise Plan

For the past nine week I have become more health conscious of what I was putting into my body. I was always a healthy eater but since taking this class I have become more of a health freak. In the past I just went off of what I knew was healthy and what wasn’t. I never really paid any attention to labels and nutritional guidelines. I just didn’t eat certain types of foods because of how my body reacted toward it. I was highly aware of the epidemic on obesity in America within the last few years. I am happy that they are reporting that there is a current issue concerning the foods we choose to eat. Many people are so used to eating a particular type of food that they don’t even know where to begin to change their lifestyle.

The information I learned in this class was very beneficial to me. Although I am healthy person, I still learned that nutrition is very important to my wellbeing. In the beginning of the class I ate more protein than anything. The report showed that I ate more fish than any other meats. Although it is more healthy than other meats, it is not healthy to eat too much of it during a 7 day period. In my food group report back in August showed that I ate 24 ounces of seafood, which was over the amount the 8 ounce target. That was one of the food group that I wanted to balance out. My report for the last three days showed that I only ate 1 ounce for this week, which is under the target amount of 8 ounces per week.

When I compare the charts from August 30, I noticed that I was over with grains and fruits. It showed the target amount for grains was 6 Oz and I consumed 9 ¼ for that particular day. It also showed that the target amount for fruits is 1 ½ cup and I consumed 2 ¾ for the day. For the vegetables it showed that I was right on target, but under for the proteins and dairy.
