Safety With Materials

In practice to make cake and design cake food hygiene and preparation rules apply to any premises in which food is prepared which we have to follow.

Palette knife/ Knife: when working with knife, and we lay it down, don’t lay it down with the blade pointing up and make sure it is away from the surface edge. If you are working with or handling a knife and you drop it, step back and let it fall, don't try to catch it. This sounds elementary, but the instinct is to try and catch it, and that can be dangerous.

Rolling pin: as rolling pin is heavy therefore it can be harmful if its not kept it nicely on the table, so first thing would be to keep rolling pin safely on table so that it don’t slide off, and harm someone.

Beads cutter: Using bead cutter wont be so dangerous but giving shape of pearls will requires to use knife which has to be use with safety.

Cake smoother: for health safety cake smoother has to be properly clean and wiped, so that it can be used on the cake easily.

Button mould: to do buttons, it requires to use knife as well, which has to be use with safety as it’s one of the dangerous tool in the kitchen.

Lace Mould: before making lace mould, the mould has to be clean and wiped off, no wet area should be there to avoid stickiness. Before using it on paste it’s good idea to dust the mould with corn-starch or icing sugar to avoid stickiness. It should be kept it safely as its silicon may cause the mould to damage.

Paint Brushes: has to be cleaned before and after use, having too wet pain brush can cause the colour to get too thin and not strong, so they should be dry before using them.

Nozzles: they should washed properly, to make sure it don’t get damage its good idea to store them in little box.

Cake Boards: it should be cleaned before using to avoid bacteria, keep it tidy and do not allow to become damaged.
