1. What is Community Service? Why there is a need to do Community Service? (5 m)

Community service is donated service or activity that is performed by someone or a group of people for the benefit of the public or its institutions. People do community service for many reasons. Some general examples of CS projects include: cleaning a park, collecting items for charity such as clothes, food or furniture, helping the elderly in nursing homes, tutoring children with learning disabilities and helping children in homes. There is a need to do community service because there are many cases happening everywhere such as rape case, single mothers, orphan child and neglected old people. These victims need cares and love from the society. However, people have no extra time to them. Their heart fills with many things such as desire, wealth and right but there is none for the love to the victims. They only think about themselves only. Thus, community service is needed to light up the love or cares to those who need it.

2. What is New Economy Policy? (5 m)

The New Economy Policy is Malaysia’s socioeconomic affirmative action plan. It was implemented in 1971 in the aftermath of the 1969 racial riots, and the period set for the implementation of NEP was 1971-1990. The overriding objective of the NEP was stated as national Unity. The goal of the NEP was two pronged which is eradicating poverty and restructuring society to eliminate the identification of race with economic function through rapid expansion of the economy over time.However, it was clearly stated that this restructuring of the racial composition of employment and ownership of wealth was to be done without denying opportunities to others. Affirmative action plans like the NEP are important because the disadvantaged in society must be helped. Everyone has an equal playing field and nobody should be left behind.
