Abstract
The success of an organization involves establishing a compatible Enterprise Resource Planning System (EPR) which supports the people, procedures, and technologies that collectively process, store, and distribute information. These components aid management in the decision making process, streamline business practices, and protect the organization from making costly financial mistakes.
Introduction
Current Process
The Financial and Accounting department provides data to the corporate office in two formats such as data and hardcopy. The data received is unreliable and outdated as most times it must be reentered or converted to a compatible format to be utilized.
The following sections define the business system requirements, subsystem relationship, and enhancements to the inventory processes. Concluding information will address cost benefits of the proposed ERP system.

As it stands when Riordan acquired the operating entities in Michigan and Georgia the Finance and Accounting compatibility was not addressed. Here is what systems are being used at each location:
San Jose – has a fully integrated Windows based ERP manufacturing, distribution and financial management software application specifically designed for plastics processors and process and assembly manufacturers.
Michigan– purchased a vendor developed software application and the attendant source code for their Finance and Accounting and process application. The application runs on a pair of DEC Alpha’s, using the VMS operating system, VAX4000 work stations and programmed in C.
