it is important for someone to have personal responsibility and accountability for the things the use for work or the things they own because without those things someone could get hurt or be stolen from. This is especially important for individuals in the military because our equipment is signed for and if we loose it than we have to pay for it and get it replaced. Not only do we have to go through the hassle of getting new equipment signed out to us but we have to go without the peace of equipment we lost, say for example I lost my m4 carbine in Iraq than I would create a big commotion in my ranks because I could not go on mission and they would have to pull someone else and work them to death because of my negligence other equipment we have has our personal information on it such as documents and id tags, with the information someone can get off of a soldiers id tags they can open bank accounts or open credit cards and even commit identity fraud and worse case scenario they can get away with it and leave u with hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt with credit card company's you have never even herd of much less given your information to. There are many important reasons to be checking your gear constantly to keep proper army issued gear accountability as an United States army MP in the United States army. It is the United States army military police officers responsibility to always have proper issued gear accountability at all times. Whenever you have a pause through your patrols, you always want to take a quick check to make sure that you have your army issued gear as well as everything else that you or your team came with. It is your job to take responsibility and check yourself as well as your other soldiers under you as well as your pears. army issued gear accountability can range from the most important pieces of issued gear such as your m4 all the way down to your tourniquet.
