Critical Information System: Kudler Fine Foods
Background
Kudler Fine Foods was established in 1998 with the opening of one store in La Jolla, California. Kathy Kudler, owner of the chain, now has two other stores in Del Mar and Encinitas. Ms. Kudler’s view and ambition was to create a store that people could purchase gourmet food items in one place as opposed to shopping across town for different items.
Within these stores there are different needs that have been addressed. The stores use Microsoft Access to allow information on employees, inventory control, orders, etc. With a reasonable ease of use, and with minimal training management as well as others should be able to use it without many problems occurring.
As with any business, large or small, it is integral that the information that the business needs day to day be easy to access. Easy access, along with ease of use, helps the business employees to work faster and a lot more efficiently and effectively. Microsoft access allows Kudler's to do just that. Information can be access fairly quickly, and is easy to use. It eliminates the employees need to shuffle through paperwork, and also allows them to see at a glance the information that is needed.

“Microsoft Access is a program used to create relational databases. Microsoft Access offers a flexible environment for database developers and users.” (Upstate, 2010). It is a database program that allows Kudler Fine Foods to keep track of its information with ease and minimal training.
For Kudler Fine Foods, this would make it easier to train management and whoever else would need to use the system. This would save the company a good deal of money as opposed to paying for someone to develop a database specific to the company. Kudler's would also not have to worry about keeping a hard paper copy of their inventory. It also makes information easier to access and enter.
