Auditor

Auditor is the person appointed to conduct an examination of the records, to form an opinion about the authenticity and correctness of such records, by verifying the correctness and reliability of the recorded transactions from the evidences available, opinion and inference reachable based on his expertise.

An auditor is an independent certified public accountant who examines the financial statements that a company's management has prepared. The Company Act require publicly held companies that file reports with the SEC to submit financial statements that are accurate, truthful, and complete and prepared according to a set of accounting standards called "Generally Accepted Accounting Principles" ("GAAP"). Many of these financial statements - including those in the company's annual report and those provided to shareholders in connection with the solicitation of proxies for annual meetings - must be examined and reported on by an independent auditor.

An auditor may be an internal auditor (an individual whose primary job function is to audit his or her own company) or an external auditor (an individual from outside the company, who typically is employed by an auditing firm who handles many different clients).

1. Internal Auditor:

An employee of a company charged with providing independent and objective evaluations of the company's financial and operational business activities, including its corporate governance. Internal auditors also provide evaluations of operational efficiencies and will usually report to the highest levels of management on how to improve the overall structure and practices of the company.
