India is where a religion called Hindu was originated and is made up of a collection of beliefs. Hindu is labeled as one of many the oldest religion in the world, Hindu is also the most difficult religion to define. The beliefs of Hinduism spans into different genre of religions and could be either polytheistic or monotheistic. The idea of God can range from many local deities that are specific to a region to a large group that encompasses millions of people. Hinduism mostly contains a collection of Vedas, or special texts. Many of the believers believe that a person’s soul is external and runs a cycle of birth, life, and death over and over with the person’s rebirth being determined by Karma and upon how they lived their life prior. Another universal belief that is found in most Hindi traditions is that when everything is done properly in the person’s life and the level has been completed then the soul will be liberated from the cycle of rebirth.

Hinduism has a many great strengths one of them being the ability to unite diverse cultures under just one common uniting principle. With this concept it has helped to strengthen their society as a whole. With the caste system segregates groups by their class and or their occupations being abused in the past, but was portraying as if it was helping to organize and give the society a sense of structure. Now though practicing discrimination because of a person’s caste is illegal.

Roles of women in the Hindu culture are complicated to explain. In the Hindu religion the deities are women and are even sometimes portrayed as being dominant and even sometimes aggressive. In ancient times of Hindu, this would have led women into having more of an equal status. In the historical times, the women in the Hindu society were less than ideal.
