Wal-Mart and Its Merchandising and Marketing

Introduction

It is must be emphasized that Wal-Mart has completely dominated the domestic market in United State as well as in some foreign countries and there were several principal theory have been applied while the company was expanding in the number of retail formats. Wal-Mart has been sensible to identify their resources and capabilities in order to put it into practice cleverly since established 1962 by Sam Walton and his brother Bud with the aim of emphasizing on discount retailers in suburban locations ranging from small towns to rural areas (Grant and Jordan, 2012). Together with Walton, David Glass and Lee Scott are excellent leaders having a great contribution to the success of Wal-Mart. Besides, there is a variety of retail outlet system which has helped Wal-Mart expanded rapidly.The company has recognized the importance of information technology in the early stages; therefore, it applied the technology to the process of obtaining supply and distribution which can be controlled by computer in effective way (Ghemawat, et al 2004). Despite all that, resources, ability to survive, and merchandising and marketing campaigns should be taken into account because they illustrate Wal-Mart’s resources and capabilities particularly. This essay will discuss and analyse possible keys for Wal-Mart to succeed.
