Project Title: Corporate Strategic Audit and Analysis Report
Objectives
This project provides you with a chance to apply the strategic management theories you’ve learned during the course to completing strategic analysis in a comprehensive manner and producing a rigorous strategic management report. It focuses on developing your decision-making skills by taking an integrative and conceptual, yet action-oriented approach.
By completing this project, you will be able to:
• Conduct a comprehensive and systematic strategic audit on a real-world company using your knowledge of accounting, economics, finance, marketing, and management;
• Analyze critically the case company’s performance in all the key aspects;
• Demonstrate a “top-management” orientation and strategic thinking;
• Describe the complexity and challenges facing a modern organization in a globalizing world economy; and
• Show understanding of strategic management principles and concepts, including tools and techniques for strategic analysis, formulation and implementation of appropriate strategies.
Tasks
1. Oral presentation of your strategic audit on a company assigned to your group by the instructor. The strategic audit should cover the most important parts of your audit, given the limited time you have for the presentation. Time limit: 25 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for questions and answers.
2. Written report (World limit: 5000 words including appendices but not references). You are required to submit a comprehensive report that covers all the issues in the case in a complete manner including references and exhibits (ratios, pro forma financial reports, etc.). You must read carefully Chapter 12 – Suggestions for Case Analysis; and Suggested Case Analysis Methodology Using the Strategic Audit in our textbook.
