Huffman Trucking, as outlined in Service Request SR-ht-001 is seeking the development and installation of a benefits election system that tracks and reports employee benefits. These employees include both union and non-union. Huffman Trucking would like a creation of a plan in Microsoft Project that can be used to manage, track, and report the progress of the benefits election system software development. The company has also offered a budget of $10,000 in completed this project. This goal of developing a benefits election system can be achieved by defining the problem, in depth analysis of the situation, creating a solution, and implementing a design, and then maintenance and support of the finished product.

The first step in defining the problem at hand is to understand what is wrong with the current tracking system. How is it not working? What does the company need from it? A team should be put together to work on the implementation of this project. There will be discussions about the budget and timeline for completion. A charter will be constructed for the benefits implementation. All of this will need to be approved before moving on to the next step and a feasibility report will have to be produced.

An analysis of this situation is the next step. The benefits will have to be discussed with the employees; see what they want. The benefits and employee contracts will be documented. This documentation will aid in inputting employee data into the new system. A requirement specifications document will be created for different employee benefit packages which will then be passed on for approval. Employees will be given surveys to get an idea of which benefits package they prefer. That data will be collected and be used to finalize a benefits plan. A requirements document for the popular benefits packages will be produced.
