INTRODUCTION

This is a case about Niraj Thakur who along with his 6 friends started a venture “Frost N’ Fun” at IMT Nagpur. FNF was established to provide various food delicacies to the students managers for whom canteen was the only source of food as the college was 35 kms from Nagpur. Frost N’ Fun became operational from 14th October, 2010. Members of FNF worked smoothly in the initial days, but after a few days’ problems and conflicts within the team started. Praveen, a FnF member acted as devil’s advocate for the group when he started questioning each and everything that Niraj said. Ketaki, a South Indian member of the group was acting more like an employee than a partner and did not took any initiative to improve the services of FNF. Niraj hired two workers from the nearby village. One of the workers was soon fired by Niraj because of regular absenteeism. Also, the declining profits months after months dampened the morale of the team. After seeing the declining profits and low motivation among the team members, Niraj came up with idea of introducing a pool table at FNF which will serve as a cash cow for the business. This idea was readily accepted by all the members of the team. This time Niraj asked other members to draft the plan for the same and getting it approved, but as usual no one took the initiative. At the end Niraj decided to do it on his own and didn’t involve anyone else in the plan. Niraj got the plan of pool table got approved by the management and soon profits started increasing again.
