Building a Team with a Charter

Teamwork is an important foundation in business, sports and for team B. For the team to accomplish what is required we will have to work in concert with each other. There are four team members that make up this team and we all have our differences. The team has both males and females, three races and a big gap in ages. This student feels this helps our team by having diversity. The team will have to work on our communication to ensure we meet our common goals. All four of us have very low scores when it comes to trust, making all of us very trusting. We will accomplish this with the help of our team charter. The team charter will provide the team with rules and guideline for each of the members to follow.
The team charter outline that we are utilizing is in four sections, learning team goals, what are the potential barriers to achievement of these goals, ground rules and conflict management. Each of the team members provided feedback in each of these areas so we could come to a consensus as to best charter for this group to accomplish the required goals and objectives. This is encouraged by the university. The Learning Team Handbook states “Since the University founding more than a quarter-century ago. Learning Teams have been an essential element of our Teaching/Learning Model Dr. John Sperling, recognized the value of teams in both academia and the workplace long before these benefits became widely known and accepted Dr. Sperling believed and research has confirmed that collaborative learning groups serve several essential functions that are especially beneficial to working adult’s learners.” (Learning Team Handbook, University of Phoenix, Copyright © 2002, 2003, 2004.
