Background information

Before we start our discussion we will have a brief overview of the case.

Clarion school is a private NFP residential treatment facility for delinquent boys between the ages of 10 and 18. It is the 2nd largest facility in enrolment and 3rd most expensive school and has 128 full and part time employees and 120 students. It has gain good reputation as the last resort before a child was placed in a mental hospital or state correctional institution. The Clarion school is originally funding by Wisconsin Kiwanis clubs but recently funding is mainly coming from government agencies and families instead of Wisconsin Kiwanis clubs.

John Young is the business manager of the Clarion School for boys, and he has noticed the importance of Information System function in education and has introduced current Information System to the board of trustee, which had approved implementation of current System. However, Sean McHardy, the super independent of the Clarion school hesitates to incorporate any new technology into the school’s operations and in doubt that if the investment on Information System worth the money. After installation of the system a year, although the system has gain appreciation from the staffs, there are also many problems and some of them are repeated problems. Superintendent Mchardy asked Young to prepare a presentation regarding an assessment of the current information systems and a long-term direction strategy for information systems at Clarion School. To assist John, a task force is formed by many departments of management to assess current Information System and develop strategy for long term goals and an information system plan. Also LSM consulting company is employed to help John in this project.
