Introduction

Being an international student and living overseas means that it is a very interesting and exciting experience to research about English people as well as other nationalities. I decided to write about music preferences of adult and students of different nationalities in Cambridge.

This research based on previous findings, my experiments and related literature. In this research I want to find out peoples’ tastes, to examine how different styles of music can contribute on gender differences, how music affects peoples’ mood and how it can make people happier.

Music is a part of human life; it is an integral piece of history and culture as well as modern human beings and psychology. Due to music we can more widely understand and feel lost historical periods. The root of music history is a grand subject, from early age until this time lots of things changed in a music sphere, there appeared different genres of music such as funk, punk, rock, pop, today it seems that these genres always existed but its appeared because people have different interest in music that was the start of widening other musical genres.

Nowadays, music is one of the main interests of people. Music is everywhere: music as an entertainment, music as a treatment, music for meditation and there are countless things where we use music. Music became a common thing today, we always listen to music, when we are in the bus station we listen to music, when we do sport we again listen to music, therefore music has a different styles for different people, depend on their tastes of music.

During my investigation I understood that usually more male gender like hard rock, heavy metal, funk and blues, however female gender like more chart pop, retro disco, soul, R&B, blues and it indicates about gender...
