"My one purpose in life is to help people find a personal relationship with God, which, I believe, comes through knowing Christ."-Billy Graham

As stated in the above quote, Billy Graham’s one purpose in life is to lead others to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and savior. Born on November 7, 1918 in Charlotte, NC, his parents probably never thought their newborn son would be so famous, have done so many good things, and shared the Gospel with so many people. In the fall of 1934, at fifteen, Billy came to know Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He was ordained as a minister in 1939 by the Southern Baptist Convention. In 1943, he graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois and married Ruth McCue Bell. He has pastored several churches and led many crusades around the world to minister to people. Graham is an evangelist, or a preacher of the Gospel that brings it to many cities. Graham has five children, Virginia, Anne, Ruth, Franklin, and Nelson. He has nineteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren. He is known worldwide for his evangelism. He has written twenty-five books and has even lead prayers for big events, such as a meeting after 9/11. He was inducted into the Gospel Hall of Fame in 1999 and has received countless other awards. He was close with several of the past presidents. He currently suffers from Parkinson’s Disease but is still going strong at ninety-one. He resides in the mountains of North Carolina near Asheville. There is even a library named after him with exhibits and other neat things.
