There is new information about diversity in the United States. It has helped me better understand or relate to others in ways that I may not have in the past. Information is always being created, whether it is in the internet or published in an article or some form of media. There are always new sources of information regarding diversity. Such an example can be polls or surveys that can be created by an organization including the government. The purpose of this information can be for informational purposes or for the creation of new laws or even the amending of new laws at the national level all the way down to city or town level. One of these important examples is the country’s census. It is done every ten years and it helps to determine not only the population of the country, but also many other aspects of our people. This is when it can identify the population by race or ethnic background, religion, sex, average age and identify the death rate of the population. As well as education level and employment levels, the purpose of this census is to determine where the budget of the country needs to be focused whether it is more for programs to the young or more money being put into roads, maybe education funding needs to be increased due to higher attending of colleges and universities. It shows the country in many levels of diversities to identify many areas that the government needs to focus to improve this country and address issues. Other surveys are done at monthly or weekly basis like unemployment rates broken down into other areas. It all comes down to who is here, how many of us are here, how many of us are working and who is going to school and who has not gone to school. I know use this information to make better decisions about how I treat people and it gives me an idea of who is around me.
