Case Title: Alma Electronics I’ll Dream of You

I. Executive Summary:

Mr. Andy Mallari is the owner of electronics shop that started 1979. His shop is selling parts that used in assembly and maintenance of radios, tape recorders, amplifiers and various related appliances. After 11 years, the business is expanding and continuously picking up. The operation covers sales and repair. But Mr. Mallari’s perspective has changed drastically when he met his former classmate Estelito Chan, owner of a well-established appliance assembly plant in Manila. Mr. Mallari thinks that he can follow the footsteps of his friend. Mr. Mallari has three sons; all are belonging top ten in their respective classes. He thinks all the three have potential to help him realize his dream of establishing his own assembly plant. His immediate concern now is to identify the right college courses for his children.

II. Statement of the Problem:

The main question that Mr. Mallari has to answer now is the willingness of his three sons to help him to realize his dream of establishing his own assembly plant. What if his sons will not permit him to choose the right college courses for them? Or not pursuing to any engineering courses? Mr. Mallari’s decision that center on which school and which engineering courses is vital for his sons because the decision he makes would influence their life, well being and their future.

III. Causes of the Problem:

Mr. Mallari’s dream of establishing his own appliance assembly plant or achieving his own dream has entirely nothing to do with his sons future college courses. Heading off to college is a milestone for every child’s life but take a step back and realize that this is his children decision first and foremost.
