1. Who is Martin Luther?

Martin Luther is a German monk, who strongly disputed the claim that freedom from God’s punishment for sin could be purchased with money. That’s why he criticized the Church’s practice of selling indulgence.

2. Why is Luther an important historical figure?

He is an important historical figure because he was the one who started the Reformation of the Church. To express his understanding about the scriptures and his beliefs about the salvation of a man’s soul does not depend on good works but on one’s faith, he nailed his Ninety-five theses in the front door of the Wittenberg Church.

3. What words would you use to describe Luther?

For me, Martin Luther is a just person because he seeks justice for the corruption of the Church. He is also intelligent because he uses his knowledge to oppose against the church’s corruption and false teachings. In additional, he is also committed to his beliefs because even though there are a lot of people telling him not to oppose against the church, he still stand firm to what he believes.

4. What did you learn from the life during the Middle Ages in the film?

The life during the Middle Ages in the film was all about the abuses of some priest, widespread corruption, attachment to worldly things, immorality and selfishness of some priests.

5. What was the role of the church in the lives of the people during Luther’s time?

The Church had a great influence to the lives of the people through public rituals and ceremonies. The Pope had the authority to reserve or forgive sins and threaten excommunication to anyone who resisted the taxes and fees that were levied upon the clergy and church activities, thus affecting the lives of the people.

6. In what way the film help you to understand about the church in the Middle Ages?

The film helps me understand that the Church uses the public rituals and ceremonies to collect money for themselves. I also understand that there...
