The strength of Horizon North Manufacturing, one of the groups of companies under Horizon North Logistics Inc., a publicly traded company, depends highly on the management team. Mr. Rob Adair‘s job as the Manufacturing Manager- GP is but one of the important roles in the Company. Mr. Adair holds a middle management position, where he requires a wide range of abilities. Above Mr. Adair, is the top line management team, at Horizon North Logistics Inc. They set the mission statements and goals for the company. They are also responsible for ensuring that the Company is able to meet the competition of other manufacturing companies. While political and socio cultural trends are important in this regard, the more pressing issues involve the economic and technological trends. There are also team leaders at head office that deal with change, inspiration, motivation and influence. They also play more of the figurehead role for the company as a whole. Below Mr. Adair, he has appointed first line managers to keep an eye on the 200 + employees and ensure that they do their jobs efficiently.

In Mr. Adair’s position, he must plan and strategize on the best possible ways to achieve the goals and mission statement of Horizon North Manufacturing. He plans what and how things should be tasked and then who shall be responsible for completing those tasks. Mr. Adair also must anticipate any interruptions in production, i.e. shortage of materials, etc. And then develop an effective response to that interruption. Monitoring of the suppliers for the company helps in controlling this type of interruption. He also organises resources to help in the accomplishment of set goals. This includes delegation of duties to all first line managers and their teams. He gives encouragement and support to his employees when needed.
